About this event
2026 Online Wild‑Food Apprenticeships & 1-1 Mentoring in Wild Food Preparations and Herbal Medicine
I’m Courtney Tyler, a lifelong forager who participated in living exclusively off wild foods while contributing to the Wild Biome Project (2023 & 2025). Over the past twelve years I’ve spoken at venues from University College Cork to the Radical Mycology Convergence (Portland, OR) and HerbFeast Ireland, and I’ve taught thousands of enthusiasts across Ireland and the UK. My workshops blend practical skill‑building with deep ecological insight, and I’m now offering focused, one‑to‑one online mentoring so you can develop the same confidence, knowledge, and reverence for nature that guide my own practice.
Responding to growing demand, this programme is designed for everyone—from absolute beginners to seasoned teachers—who want to expand their foraging knowledge, sharpen practical skills, and boost confidence. Whether you’re looking for a single, focused session to solve a specific question (identifying a mushroom, locating edible plants, troubleshooting a school project, etc.) or a series of appointments to build expertise over time, our tailored mentorship will meet you where you are.
Why Online Wild‑Food Mentoring?
The benefits of online mentoring with Hips & Haws Wildcrafts versus a guided walk:
Learn at your own pace – No information overload; you absorb a few concepts, practice them, and let the knowledge settle.
Focused on you – Sessions target your current skill level and interests, unlike group walks that repeat basics or skip advanced topics.
Cost‑effective – No travel expenses, no private guide fees.
Active learning – You’re sent out to explore, experiment, and discover, which cements the material.
Continuity – Regular check‑ins keep you attuned to seasonal changes and evolving questions.
Personal, Passion‑Driven Guidance From a Seasoned Forager
What You’ll Get in a 45‑Minute Session:
Live video call (screen‑share and field‑work guidance)
Tailored advice for your specific interest – mushroom ID, edible‑plant location, wild‑food recipe, preservation technique, school‑project help, etc.
Optional post‑session resource pack (curated links, photos, PDFs) for an additional €25
Tell Us Your Focus
Before your call, please specify your area of interest (e.g., a particular plant, mushroom, wild‑food recipe, herbal medicine or preservation method). This lets me prepare relevant resources and tailor the session to your needs.

Exploring the Alchemy of: Foraging | Fungi | Wild Food | Medicinal Mushrooms | Herbal Medicine | Fermentation
“I am passionate about sharing how nature nourishes, connects, and grounds me. My goal is to ignite curiosity and inspire others to explore the wild through food and medicine.” – Courtney
Based in the stunning County Wicklow, Ireland, Courtney thrives in the forest, observing the ever-changing seasons. A skilled and enthusiastic forager, she spends her days wandering hedgerows and woodlands in search of wild plants, roots, berries, and fungi to transform into herbal extracts, teas, salves, ferments, and nourishing food to share with her community.
Courtney’s passion lies in teaching others the wonders of the natural world. With infectious enthusiasm and a deep well of knowledge, she breaks down complex topics—whether about fungi, foraging, or herbal medicine—into engaging, hands-on learning experiences that empower participants to confidently explore nature themselves.
As a proud member of the Association of Foragers, Courtney offers a range of workshops and events focused on identifying edible, medicinal, and toxic fungi. Her approach is rooted in safety, sustainability, and respect for the land. Whether your interest lies in foraging, nature photography, ecology, mycology, food, or medicine, her inclusive workshops create a welcoming space for all.
